Gujarat is a major producer of Block Prints. It is an art unique in Kutch district. Though it is found in Rajasthan, Madhyapradesh and Maharashtra, too. Hand Printing is done with hand carved wooden blocks, carving of which is very meticulous. The ‘Matani-Pachhedi’ used for religious purpose made by the ‘Devi Pujak’ community uses a combination of block printing for the outline of the pattern and the painting of the mordents. Salwar suits, shirts, kurtas, jackets, skirts, sarees, dupattas, dress-materials, furnishings like bed-covers, pillow covers, table cloth, napkin set, curtains are some of the items made with unique hand block printing. Ajrakh is a sort of Hand Print.

In kutch, the artisans of this marvelous craft are mainly in Dahamadka, Mundra, Bhujpur, and Mandvi. The technique of combining printing with mordent dyeing is sometimes adopted.
